Method
Build the butter board
- Spread the softened salted butter across a wooden board using the back of a spoon to create swooshes and swirls, leaving small ridges for toppings to cling. Aim for an even layer with visible swirl texture.
- Drizzle the honey over the butter in thin lines so it soaks into the ridges. Use a light, uneven pattern for glossy coverage.
- Scatter the chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly over the honeyed butter. Keep toppings spread out so every bite has a mix of flavors and crunch.
- Finish by sprinkling flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes over the top. Add the salt last so it catches the light and stays visibly flaky.
- Serve immediately with torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping. Arrange bread around the board for easy grabbing at the table.
Notes
Pro tip: make sure the butter is truly room temperature so you can spread it into defined swooshes without tearing. Store leftovers covered in the fridge up to 2 days, then let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving again; the texture may soften slightly. Freezing isn’t recommended. For a dairy-light option, swap in a plant-based salted butter stick and proceed the same way.
