Ingredients

meatballs mixture
  • 2 lb frozen fully cooked meatballs Use frozen fully cooked meatballs so they only need heating and sauce thickening.
  • 14 oz jellied cranberry sauce From a can/jar; stir until smooth in the cooker.
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Choose a smoky style for best depth.
  • 2 tbsp sriracha Adjust to taste if you want less heat.
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar Adds tang and balances the sweetness.
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder Convenient flavor boost.
  • 0.5 tsp chipotle chili powder Smoky heat that deepens the cranberry BBQ sauce.
  • 1 jalapeno Thinly sliced for garnish and mild fresh crunch.
  • 0.25 fresh parsley Chopped for garnish.

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Method

Make the sauce and coat the meatballs
  1. Whisk jellied cranberry sauce, BBQ sauce, sriracha, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and chipotle chili powder in the slow cooker until smooth.
  2. Add frozen fully cooked meatballs and stir to coat all sides with the sauce.
Slow-cook
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or HIGH for about 2 hours, stirring once halfway.
  2. When done, stir until the sauce is thick and glossy, fully coating the meatballs.
Garnish and serve
  1. Top with thinly sliced jalapeno and chopped fresh parsley, then keep the meatballs on WARM and serve with toothpicks.

Notes

For the glossiest sauce, stir at least once halfway and again at the end until it clings to the meatballs. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to 4 days; rewarm in a slow cooker on LOW until hot. Freezing is not recommended because cranberry BBQ sauce can change texture after thawing. For a lower-sugar option, use a sugar-reduced BBQ sauce and taste before serving; the sriracha and chipotle can still deliver heat.
